Hello World, It's Me

There are a great many things I love in life, foremost among them: reading books and blogging about them. I also paint, design, write poetry, sew, and dabble in photography. And I love competition. If it's something I love, and it involves competing with people, then I'm there! Someday, I'd love to write a book and start my own fashion label, among other things.

For as long as I can remember, I've always loved reading. One of my earliest memories is of reading this little childrens' dictionary that I had with pictures and stuff that I loved! And since everyone in the family is a bookworm, reading has always been encouraged (there's also never a lack of books to read at home :). Often, you've find all of us settled comfortably in our own corner with some reading material.

I started reading Enid Blyton in UKG, and went on to Famous Five in I Grade, which I devoured and loved (those words sound weird together, don't they?) for a number of years. I've always been that student who'd be hunched over a book during every free second (and some not-so-free seconds, read as 'when there's class' ;). After coming to India, I became great pals with the school librarian (have you ever wondered, why are many librarians so eccentric?) and would borrow several books, one after another, in a single day. Yes, there are perks to being to librarians pet.

Reading has always been a passion and always will be as long as I live, because it opens up a whole new world that you never knew existed. That's my favourite thing about it!

And oh yeah, I love coffee (except my mum makes horrible coffee, so I dont have it as often as I would like)! So this is kinda perfect for me...

You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.

My History with Blogging

I've always loved writing, and started blogging in May 2009. I actually wanted to start much earlier, but my sister started blogging just around then, and I didn't want her to think I was copying her (if you have a sibling, you know what I mean ;), so I waited, until I got an awesome idea for a first post, and couldn't any longer.

This blog originally started out as a personal blog, Simply Me, where I wrote general stuff like my views, poems and hobbies, what was happening in my life, etc. But then, over the past few years, I blogged sporadically since I didn't have anything to blog about. I often thought that I'd love to write about books all the time, but was convinced that viewers (the very few that I'd had) would think that I'm a book obsessed freak who doesn't know how to write about anything else (truth :)

In mid 2012, I met Pooja of On Books!, and she introduced me to book blogs, where I found a whole new amazing world filled with what is my most favourite thing in the world: BOOKS! I still didn't know how to review a book though, so I went through a lot of blogs before I finally wrote my first review on The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.

Traffic and readership has picked up considerably since then, so I decided to make it a proper book blog. And so, I Read, Ergo I Write was Born. So that explains why my page views are kinda low for a blog that's been around for a bit over 4 years.

I am picky about the books I read, but I usually go for anything that catches my eye, or is highly recommended. Typos and grammatical errors can really put me off (it's almost like OCD, I swear), and sometimes, if there are too many, I almost invariably do not finish the book. See, the thing is, when you write a book, I think author owe it to us, the readers, to give us their best, which also includes proof reading and correcting grammatical errors. But when I like the book, you've got a fan for life!

P.S.: Reading through, I realize that this is a VERY long 'About' thingy, and if you've had the patience to read through the entire thing, I love you for it. Really! :)

P.P.S.: This blog is an award free blog. I really love you guys for nominating me for the awards, but unfortunately, things are really hectic for me what with juggling college, books, and blogging, and I find myself unable to spread the awards to other deserving bloggers.
